Areas of Specialisation

I am a fully trained Otolaryngologist. I have a special interest in ear surgery particularly children’s ear surgery and surgery for otosclerosis ( stapedectomy). I also have an interest in surgery for chronic sinusitis and dacryocystorhinostomy (surgery for the watery eye); I run a teaching course for surgeons learning these types of surgery. As Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago I am responsible for undergraduate ear, nose and throat teaching and run a number of research projects, in particular I have a research interest in the effects of Tonsil and Adenoid disease on children’s sleep and have been involved in analysing hearing outcomes following glue ear treatment.

I see private patients in Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown.
