About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Manager is a newly created role and is responsible for providing clinical, operational and administrative leadership on our 42 bed in-patient ward (McAuley Ward) along with oversight of ICU services.

 This role will lead a team of approximately forty staff and be supported by two clinical shift leaders and an ICU Coordinator.

Specific duties include:

  • Utilising your clinical expertise to support the development of the wider team
  • Creating and leading process improvement initiatives, with a focus on quality
  • Critically analysing the department to ensure it remains current with best practice
  • Maximising patient flow and resources to ensure consistent service standards
  • Maintaining a quality focus, by effectively and efficiently managing staff performance
  • Ensuring a consistently high level of care is maintained across the ward and ICU
  • Collaborating with staff and specialists to ensure the department runs effectively
  • Sharing your clinical expertise and experience with the wider team and working clinically, as and when required.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with proven leadership and management skills
  • 5 or more years recent clinical practice experience in surgical, acute and/or high dependency patient areas


    Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, pursuant of the Nurses Act 1977 as a Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Completed or working towards a post graduate qualification relevant to area of practice
  • Excellent relationship management, communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal).
