Friday 7-November 2025 was a very proud day for the Mercy Hospital whanau, with Mercy Cancer Care officially opening it's Invercargill clinic doors.
This is a significant occasion, for both Mercy and Mercy Cancer Care, as we strive to deliver services within our communities served, enabled by our talented staff and technology.
Mercy Cancer Care’s new clinic is located at Te Hau o Te Ora, on Don Street in Invercargill, and marks an exciting milestone in our ongoing mission to improve both access to and enhance whanau engagement in our delivery of high-quality cancer care across the Southland region.
Work on this important project began earlier in 2025, reflecting Mercy’s commitment to bringing specialist oncology services closer to the communities we serve. The Invercargill facility now operates as a satellite unit of Mercy Cancer Care Dunedin, enabling patients in Southland to receive the same expert, compassionate care without the added burden of travelling long distances.
At Mercy Cancer Care Invercargill, patients are able to receive chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments under the supervision of our experienced oncology team. The new clinic has been thoughtfully designed to provide a calm, comfortable, and supportive environment, ensuring that each patient and their whanau feel cared for throughout their treatment journey.
This expansion represents more than just a new location — it reflects Mercy’s deep commitment to equity of access and excellence in patient care. By bringing these services to Invercargill, we enable patients to remain closer to home, family, and support networks while continuing to receive world-class treatment.
