COVID-19 Update

Mercy Hospital recommenced limited elective surgeries from Wednesday April 28th. With New Zealand’s move to COVID-19 Alert Level 2 on Thursday May 14th we are working towards restarting our full range of surgical services. If your surgery was cancelled over the lockdown period please contact your specialist rooms regarding rescheduling.

Throughout Alert Level 2 a number of additional measures remain in place to minimise the risk of COVID-19 entering the Hospital, these include:

  • Limiting visitors, each patient is able to nominate one named visitor/support person.
  • Sign-in / Sign-out required for all site personnel / visitors to enable contact tracing.

Additionally, we will need to defer your surgery under the following circumstances:

  • You are suffering from any of the following symptoms:
    • Cough,
    • Running Nose, sneezing, loss of smell,
    • Sore throat,
    • Fever
    • Breathlessness
    • Headache, muscle pain or fatigue.
  • You have previously tested positive for COVID-19 and have not yet fully recovered.
  • You are a close or casual contact of a person with probable or confirmed COVID-19.
